So I was reading my friends' posts and was taken aback by all the exciting things they were writing about, and life-altering events. Then I realized I haven't blogged about MY life-altering event. Although, anyone who reads this already knows, so I probably don't even need to talk about it.
But I'm going to anyway.
Luke and I are expecting a baby in June. RAD!
So far the baby has not made me sick, but only given me headaches and a little uncomfortable-ness. Also, it's required me to make minor adjustments in my wardrobe. I'm sure every pregnant woman feels like they are being watched by EVERYONE, and EVERYONE evaluates their decisions. I, however, have 150 pairs of eyes looking at me everyday. And it's not just a look, like one might receive from a passer-by in the convenience store. It's like a check-you-up-and-down look that a person has time for while watching your teacher recite the spelling words. Yesterday one of the seniors at school asked me this honest question: "Is it a compliment to tell you that you look fat?" I said no. Then she said, "Well, it's only in your stomach!" I doubt that. A fifth grader came up to me at recess the other day and said, "I can tell you're going to have a baby." I asked her what she meant by that and she said, "I just saw your stomach."
Now, before you start picturing what I must look like, let me assure you that I look the same, the only thing is that now it almost always looks like I just ate a large meal. You know, the little bloating effect? Well, anyway, it's really not bad, friends, it's just that I think these well-meaning students are LOOKING and WAITING oh so patiently for a change, and they get excited when they think they see one.
We're excited to find out in February if it's a boy or girl, and will probably start shopping for things this spring.
So, that's my news!
Does that beat Debra's new house?? :)
