Busy Day

We laid rock for our driveway today.

In the winter there are huge ruts, and that means mud messiness. A man dropped off rock today and we spread it. It was hard work, but we are happy with the results. Hopefully nieghborhood kids won't come around and throw the rocks. Also, hopefully the lawn mower won't throw rocks.

I thought my cat looked so cozy and cool underneath our peony bushes. Every spring the peony bushes bloom. In order for them to bloom, the ants and flies need to come and help them along. The bushes are swarming with insects right now. They must love the way they taste. The flowers would not be able to bloom without the help of these creepy crawlies.

I think insects are gross. They have their purposes though. I also think a hurting heart is gross. There are purposes there too.

FREEDOM!

Today is the last day of school--FREEDOM!!

Today is also the day we called someone to take care of the bats. They came, they set up trick doors, found holes where they get in, billed us, and left. They were really nice guys and I was the privilaged one to have them visit us. Thank you for charging me $350 dollars! Thank you for getting rid of my bat problem!!

Here's to a sumer of freedom!
Appropriately I've chosen Normal Rockwell's "Freedom from Fear".

For the record

Just want to say that I loved Robert Downey Jr. before Iron Man. Yep, it's the truth. This video made me laugh until I cried--something I haven't ever done, that I can remember, and it's something that I really needed. I thought it was a little ruined at the end, but I was still loving it.

One of my favorite songs, one of my favorite actors...bliss

This is me

One of my friends who lost her father weeks ago suggested that there is an inner time-line of what is socially acceptable behavior when grieving. For example, the first week you have an excuse to be sad and cry and everyone understands. The 2nd and 3rd week your response should be, when asked, that things are, "a little better". Definitely after one month the rest of the world has moved on with their normal lives, the cards have stopped coming in the mail, and a grieving person should keep feelings/thoughts to themselves so as not to assert their pesimistic view, or downer perspective on life.

What does a person do after four months?

Well, this is me. After four months I make no apologies, no excuses...this is me.

I find myself acting out at home and at school, with family and friends....just like a child.

I still cry.

I'm happy on the outside, but dying on the inside.

I'm in a crowd, but so alone.

Everybody else has a best friend but me.

I'm the only sad person, but I know there are others who are hurting. I think if we only knew what was really going on inside of others we would all feel a lot closer to each other.

I'm caught in a thunder storm.

I'm desperately holding onto the hope of a better Deb when all is said and done.

I'm so socially awkward--can't even talk to my friends like I used to be able to--at a loss for words--my mind is somewhere else--just let me sit and listen while the rest of you talk--don't make me tell you what I think because I may just blow up at you, or I won't, I'll just keep it all inside.

I think if you only knew how many times I was on the verge of tears...you would cry too.

At least this is me today...

Perception can be reality.

help

I'm looking for your help.

Help me worship this summer.

Will you all out there in blog-land send me your favorite worship music? What gets you in the mood to worship? I want some new music and I want to know what you think is good. What has ministered to your soul? Maybe you'll send me a cd, maybe you'll think of something else, or maybe you won't do anything at all...I just thought I'd put the invitation out there. I'm hopeful for some takers.

If you need my address or email address, let me know.

Is it breaking the law to pass on music to a friend? I don't think so.

I'm excited for this summer. We have many plans, but not too many that we don't have time to just be.

12 more days of school. Come on summer!

Thrill-ing!

I discovered tonight the best news all day: ABC is bringing back The Mole for this summer's TV menu! I can't wait! Not many people know of it...maybe that will change.

I just wish Steven Baldwin and Kathy Griffin could be on it again.
